Privacy Policy
Voice Tasbih is a free app that plays tasbih on loop with a live counter. We collect as little as we can. This page says exactly what, why, for how long, and how you can erase it.
Voice Tasbih is operated by Saifuddin Indorewala, Mumbai, India. Contact: support@voicetasbih.com.
The short version
- The website can be read without an account. Like any website, our hosting server and security service process your IP address and request details to deliver the pages and audio.
- The app is for community members. An account needs an email address (no password — we email you a 6-digit code) and a confirmed membership: your name and membership (ITS) number.
- Your membership card is read on your phone and the photo is never uploaded or saved.
- We don't use any third-party analytics, advertising or tracking. We only count active users and tasbih totals in aggregate to run and improve the app. We do not sell your data or share it for advertising.
- You can delete your account at any time and everything tied to it is erased.
What we collect when you have an account
| Data | Why | Kept |
|---|---|---|
| Email address | To sign you in (we email you a one-time code) and to identify your account | Until you delete the account |
| Name and membership (ITS) number, and whether they were read from your card or typed in | To confirm that you are a community member and to prevent one membership from being used for several accounts | Until you delete the account |
| Time zone (e.g. “Asia/Kolkata”) | To work out “today” for your counts, resume and reminders | Until you delete the account |
| Your groups (with an optional planned time), their tasbihs and counts, which groups you completed each day, tasbihs you left out of Random, your per-tasbih speed, pause and personal count, and your default speed | To give you the app you set up, on every device | Until you delete them or the account |
| Where you stopped today (resume position) | To offer “continue where you left off” | Same day; removed after 7 days |
| Daily statistics (how many repetitions of each tasbih per day) | Your stats screen, streaks and history. Only you can see them. | 13 months, then deleted automatically |
| Lifetime totals (a running total per tasbih, and your longest streak) | Your stats screen and streaks | Until you delete the account |
| Your choice on the “10% sawab request” (yes / no, and when you chose), and — only if you said yes — anonymous, aggregated tasbih counts | To record your niyyat to share 10% of the sawab of your tasbihs with the app’s developer. The aggregated counts are added up per tasbih with no link to any person; they cannot be traced back to you, are not removed when you delete your account, and you can switch the choice off any time in Settings (counting then stops). Your own counts and stats are unaffected and no feature depends on the choice. | The choice: until you delete the account. The anonymous totals: kept indefinitely, with no link to any person |
| An optional setting to hide certain recitations during menstruation (off unless you turn it on) | To hide those recitations in the app for you. It is stored with your account, never shared, and not used for anything else | Until you turn it off or delete the account |
| Reminder settings (type, times, days) | To send the reminders you asked for | Until you change them or delete the account |
| Notification subscription (a browser address and keys, and the browser’s name string) | To deliver reminders to that device | Until you turn notifications off, the device stops accepting them, or you delete the account |
| Last-active time and account type (free) | To count how many people use the app, and to allow possible future paid features | Until you delete the account |
| Sign-in sessions (a hashed token and the browser’s name string) | To keep you signed in for up to 30 days of use without asking for a code again | Until you sign out, they expire, or you delete the account |
| Sign-in codes (hashed) and the network address that requested them | To check the code and to limit abuse | Removed about a day after they expire |
We do not record what you listen to beyond the daily counts above, we do not use location, contacts, the microphone or advertising identifiers, and the stats we keep have no ad or marketing use. We also keep anonymous, combined totals of how often each tasbih is recited across all users (some are shown publicly); they contain no personal data and are not removed when an account is deleted.
Membership verification
- To use the app you confirm your membership by scanning your membership card with your phone’s camera (or a photo you choose), or by typing your name and membership number, which we then review by hand.
- When you scan, the photo is read on your phone by text-recognition software that is part of the app. The photo is not uploaded, sent to us or anyone else, logged or stored; the temporary file is deleted as soon as the text has been read. Only the name and membership number you confirm are sent to us.
- We store your name and membership number so that we can confirm that you are a member and so that one membership cannot be used for several accounts. We do not share them with anyone and do not use them for advertising.
- They are erased when you delete your account. An administrator can also reset them, after which you verify again.
What stays on your device
- A secure, HTTP-only sign-in cookie (so you stay signed in). It is not readable by scripts and is not used for tracking.
- Settings in your browser’s or app’s storage: theme, speed, Random preferences, time-zone choice, notification preference, counts not yet uploaded.
- A cache of the app files and the audio you have played, so they work offline. None of this is used for tracking.
Who processes data for us
We use these providers only to run the service. They act on our instructions. We do not sell your data or share it for advertising.
- An email delivery service — receives your email address and the one-time code message when you sign in or confirm deleting your account.
- A content delivery network (CDN) and security service — delivers this site, the app and the audio files, and protects them from attacks. Because traffic passes through it, it processes your IP address and request details, as any such service does.
- A secure cloud storage service — stores the audio and image files and our private backup copies of the database.
- Our hosting server — runs the app and its database.
- Your device’s push notification service — delivers reminder notifications. The notification text is generic (“Time for your Tasbih”) and contains no personal data.
Backups
We make daily backup copies of the database, stored on our server and in private cloud storage. If you delete your account, your data disappears from the live service immediately and from backups as they expire, within about 8 weeks. Backups are not used for anything except restoring the service.
Your choices and rights
- Access / correction: you can see and change your data inside the app (groups, settings, time zone, reminders, stats).
- Deletion: Settings → Delete account (see how it works).
- Anything else — a copy of your data, a question, a complaint: write to support@voicetasbih.com.
Security
Traffic is encrypted (HTTPS). Sign-in codes and session tokens are stored only as hashes. Backups are kept in access-restricted private storage. Access to the admin tools is limited to the site owner. No system is perfectly secure; if something affecting you ever goes wrong we will tell you.
Children
Accounts are for users aged 13 and over. The app is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect their data.
Changes
If this policy changes in a way that matters, we will update the date at the top and tell signed-in users in the app.
